“A feeling of quiet comes over me when I am in my Orchid Garden. 
Add a few clear quartz crystals and the world is at peace once again.“ 

I have carved out many negative spaces to create depth and dimension after the design is drawn
directly on the gourd with pencil.  All images are hand painted with acrylic paints.  The gourd has been sealed
to protect the art.   It can be cleaned with mild soap and water if necessary and allowed to air dry.

Shortly after finding this unique piece I visited Boca Grand Pass during the annual tarpon run. 

It so inspired me that I painted the magnificent fish on the found treasure.

This series is inspired by various pieces of ancient trees, found sunken in  the lakes and rivers of the USA, remnants of early logging days. (Oaks, Black Walnut, Maple, Birch, Ironwood,pine, Elm, Cyprus, etc.) Each small part of a large, aged tree is selected because of it's uniqueness, grain and stain. Sandi, then arranges her choice "Fragments" with her treasured found rocks and driftwood, to create works of art  that will be enjoyed for generations.
